HE GIFT of Tongues is merely a sign and one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit infilling.  It is neither an end in itself, nor the final and sole working of God in our lives; if, "tongues," is the only or the last evidence of God's working in our lives we are to be pitied.  Tongues is the first indication of the Holy Spirit infilling and the beginning of God's working in us after we receive the infilling.  For this reason, we do not seek, "tongues," but, "the infilling," and we do not seek, "the infilling," but God Himself!  When we seek God, the, "infilling," will come, and when we seek, "the infilling," "tongues," will come.

Receiving the Infilling of the Holy Spirit is a matter of seeking the Giver, not the gift.  We often speak of, "the Gates of Praise," as it is most often through praise that one receives the infilling.

In seeking the Infilling, one ensures that he has been purified from sin, seeks to rid himself of unrepented sin, has responded to God in complete obedience in all areas of his life, and, sought God with a whole heart, in general, and in this regard in particular, and offered himself completely and wholeheartedly to God.

He should seek Christians who have received the Infilling, and who have faith that God will pour it out again, and have them lay hands on him, and pray that he would receive it.

And he should enter into praise and worship.  God dwells in the praises of His people... and it is through, "the gates of Praise," that, most often, one receives the Infilling.
